Created by a merger of Norwich Union and CGU in February 2000, they rebranded to what we now know as Aviva.
Aviva was awarded ‘Winner’ of the Health Insurance Company of the Year for the 11th year running at the 2020 Health Insurance Awards.

They then expanded after acquiring Standard Life Healthcare, rebranding in November 2014.
Vitality’s ethos is driven by their core purpose: to make people healthier and to enhance and protect their lives by encouraging healthy living and rewarding people for doing so, and this can be seen in the innovative ways their members are rewarded for engaging in healthy pursuits along with their bold pledge to get 100 million people 20% more active by 2025.

WPA
Formed by a group of workers in 1901 as a not-for-profit specialist health insurance organisation.
Reading Work People’s Voluntary Hospital Contributory Fund was created to cover the costs of healthcare for it’s members. In 1939, it merged with the Bristol Hospital Fund, and in 1949 it was renamed the Western Provident Association (WPA). In 1992, WPA moved from Bristol to a specially designed building in Taunton, Somerset where their head office is still located.
Not only do their members rate their claim service as excellent, with an average rating of 4.7 out of 5, but 62% of consultants surveyed by Populus would commend WPA, twice as many as their nearest competitor!
Freedom
Founded in 2003, Freedom Health Insurance is a family-run company, which is not something you tend to associate with a Private Medical Insurance provider these days!
Their passionate, friendly approach is reflected in great customer service and simple products, and their fair pricing approach which is achieved by not applying No Claims Discounts to their personal clients, or extreme loadings to their company clients because an employee happens to make a large claim, means that Freedom maintain competitive premiums for their customers providing them with peace of mind.

PHC are a specialist provider of private medical insurance plans who work with carefully selected specialist health insurance intermediaries.
By doing this they are able to provide tailored and flexible healthcare solutions that reflect both the company’s needs and the requirements of their members. PHC are also owned by one of the world’s largest insurers, AXA. Meaning their intermediaries, mutual clients and members alike are reassured that PHC are underpinned by financial strength, security and considerable expertise.
